January 2012

Partick Thistle under 17s has a fresh influx of talent from St Cadoc’s.

Thistle recruited five players - Dom Farrell, Martin Maguire, Liam Lindsay, Kieran Maxwell and Lee Gallagher - from last year’s Paisley & District League winning St Cadoc’s under-16 team.

Ex Jags hero Gerry Britton (Head of Partick Thistle’s Youth Academy) explained,

“Our scouts regularly watch St Cadoc’s having noted their runaway success in the Paisley & District League last season.  All five boys have done really well since they joined up and have formed the backbone of the team.  We are very much aware of the emerging talent in East Renfrewshire and will continue to forge links with St Cadoc’s .For a club like ourselves we need to identify and develop young talent - St Cadoc’s clearly have an excellent football ethos and we are committed to working alongside them with a view to players entering the senior game."

Kyle Fitzpatrick, another member of last year’s under 16s, has now signed with Queens Park.

Congratulations to our under 12 team on reaching the final of the annual Mark Carney Trophy.

Winning each of their group games, and coming from behind to record a convincing semi-final win, the boys just came up short in the final – losing 2-1 to OLM.

Congratulations to our under 16 team and head coach Liam O'Donnell on winning the Paisley & District League.

They won their first 14 league games and lost only 2 league games all season to win league by 6 points – check out the league table!

Well done boys – a fantastic achievement and something for our younger teams to aspire to.

Congratulations to St Cadoc's Olympic, one of our under 15 teams, in reaching the semi final of the Scottish Cup - the first St Cadoc's team to do so.

In a close fought game with Edina Hibs Boys Club at Musselburgh Athletic Football Club's ground in Musselburgh' Olympic took an early lead and held it until half time. Unfortunately, despite a valiant effort, Olympic could not hold on and the game ended in a 4-1 defeat.

It was a marvellous performance and one the whole club can be exceptionally proud of.

Well done Olympic and thanks to all the supporters who travelled through to Musselburgh.
